  • Title: Georgia-Pacific Air Emissions and Human Rights
    Date: February 12, 2008
    Prepared for:
    Concerned Citizens for Clean Air, Seal Rock, OR
    Matter of concern: Georgia-Pacific Toledo Air Emissions and Adverse Human Health Effects
    Purpose of the report: to enumerate for CCCA some of the human rights norms and documents that may apply in their work with Georgia-Pacific, to offer suggestions about possible human rights actions and to provide resources that may be useful in future dealings with Georgia-Pacific and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
    Outcome: Informal agreement that Georgia-Pacific eliminate burning of tires and reduce air emissions over ten years

  • Title: The LBAM Aerial Spray Program and Human Rights
    Date: February 21, 2008
    Prepared for:
    California Alliance to Stop the Spray, Santa Cruz, CA
    Matter of concern: Aerial pheromone/pesticide sprays over densely populated urban areas of California’s Central Coast and San Francisco Bay Area
    Purpose of the report: to enumerate for CASS some of the human rights norms and documents that may apply in their work with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, to offer suggestions about possible human rights actions, and to provide resources that may be useful in efforts to stop the aerial sprays
    Outcome: Aerial spray plans temporarilyrescinded

  • Title: ODOT Herbicide Applications Along State Highways: Human Rights Concerns
    Date: March 12, 2008
    Prepared for:
    Concerned Citizens for Clean Air, Seal Rock, OR
    Matter of concern: ODOT road shoulder herbicide applications and human health effects
    Purpose of the report: to enumerate for CCCA some international human rights norms that may apply in their work with ODOT, to offer suggestions about possible future human rights actions, and to provide resources that may be useful in efforts to stop or significantly reduce roadside sprays
    Outcome: ODOT implemented a 25 mile herbicide-free pilot project on Highway 101 on the central coast, and a second herbicide-free pilot project on state Highway 36
